Zarrow Center; Resources to Teach Financial Literacy
How many of your students, OK maybe even a few adults we know, could use a financial literacy goal? This handout is full of links that can be used for individual goal work or even whole class instruction and activities. Some of the resources are videos, podcasts, books, and so much more. The resources vary in the age range they are appropriate for with some even being appropriate for some of our youngest students. These can even be used to make our math lessons more engaging and connect our work to real-world problems. This is one of those huge resources that we can easily get lost in, so take it slow and start trying just a few of these so you do not get overwhelmed.
Going to College
This is a great resource but do not let the name fool you. It may be geared towards those students who plan to attend college but there are also resources here to help students understand themselves better which is a goal of transition planning. Click on the number 1 “My Place” tab and you will see different options to help students better understand themselves. There are reflection questions and multiple informational sections. The campus life tab will discuss many things that students will have to do while they are on campus as a student. The third tab “Planning for College” will help students and families begin the planning process such as choosing a college, deciding a major, and applying for financial aid. All three tabs are full of potential services/activities for our IEPs.
