Strengths-Based Approach to Transition Planning 

• Think about the last transition plan you wrote. Did you talk more about what the students could not do rather than what they could do? We are all guilty of doing this from time to time. This resource is a nice reminder and guide for how we can base our transition plans more on what the student can do. This resource gives some nice stats on using strengths as well as some simple steps to implementing a strengths-based transition plan. 

Apprenticeship Guide For Individuals

• Apprenticeships are great opportunities for all of our students. Sometimes students, parents, and even educators have questions about what apprenticeships are and how they can benefit students. This is a nice simple, brief, and informative guide to help build everyone’s knowledge on apprenticeships. As you review this guide, think about a target audience you can use it for. 

Video Series Highlighting Benefits of Taking Ownership of Own Learning 

• We all know the importance of self-determination. We also know the more self-determined our learners are, the more successful their post-school outcomes will be. With that said, we should always be looking to increase the time we dedicate to helping our students be more self-determined. This is a nice video series that discusses topics such as; goal setting, time management, and developing your interests. These videos can be viewed in class and lead to great discussion or writing topics for your students.
