Overview Reading Achievement Plans

Description:

State Support Team Region 5 is offering two informational/work sessions to support districts/ schools that may need to write a Reading Achievement Plan. Districts/ schools will have two options to choose from. Both session will have the same information. Register for one date.


Description:

Participants will get an overview of the components needed for developing a Reading Achievement Plan. In addition, participants may choose to stay after the presentation for onsite support in developing their Reading Achievement Plan.


Although ODE is in a temporary holding pattern and official letters have not been sent, districts are encouraged to review their data and develop a RAP, if warranted. Plans are due by December 31, 2023.


Reading Achievement Plans will be required to be submitted to the Ohio Department of Education in the 2023-2024 school year under the guidelines established in ORC 3302.13. Districts and Community Schools required to submit plans will be notified after Ohio's State Report Card is released in fall 2023.
Districts and community schools must meet the following to be required to submit Reading Achievement Plans to the Department:

For two consecutive years, the district or school met both of the criteria below:


(1) The district or school received a performance rating of less than three stars for the early literacy component on Ohio’s School Report Card


(2) Fifty-one percent or less of the district or school’s students scored proficient on Ohio’s State Test for grade 3 ELA.
