Transition Tidbits March 29, 2021

Our first two links this week are aligned to Step 6, Write IEP goals, of the Assessment to Practice Document. Please make sure you check out the last three links. They all link to a registration for some great events happening soon. A final note, Since many schools will be on spring break, we will not be sending a tidbit the next couple weeks but will resume sending them out April 12. Have a great break and Happy Easter.

  • Quick Guide to Career Connections

    • This is another document that has been shared before but it certainly applies here as well. This document shows how career connection activities can align to specific content standards. This will help you in choosing academic IEP goals based on the standards but also aligning to career activities.

  • Standards by Design

    • OK, starting to sound like a broken record here but this has also been shared before. This is a great resource that can link a students career interest to a specific academic content standard. Once you identify the standard that can very easily become your IEP goal.

  • Career Readiness Leaders Meet Up

    • Check out this virtual student advising roundtable discussion. Professionals from military enlistment, employment, and college admissions will be taking part in this event. Topics include; preparing for a first interview, lifestyle advice, tuition assistance, selecting a postsecondary school, and more. Questions from students and educators will be fielded during the event. The link above will take you to the registration page.

  • Class of 2021 United States Army Reserve Career Day

    • The U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve are hosting events this April around Ohio for seniors, educators and parents to meet with soldiers in their communities and learn what they do and how they do it through their selected careers in the U.S. Army. Learn about STEM opportunities, connect with business leaders and enjoy a unique career exploration experience. Click on the link above to register for this event.

  • Youth Leadership Forum

    • Ohio Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) is a weeklong career leadership training program, held during the summer, for 11th and 12th grade high school students with disabilities. This event was mentioned before but they are making it regional this year so all the students will not have to travel to Columbus.
