Transition Tidbits March 22, 2021
We are going to continue this week on step 6 of the Assessment to Practice Document. Remember Step 6 is writing IEP goals. The first two resources will focus on step 6 and the other two are general resources for you to review. Remember as we are writing IEP goals, we should be focusing on aligning our academic goals to help our students progress towards meeting their postsecondary transition goals.

  • Ohio’s Learning Standards

    • We could not talk about goal writing without obviously talking about the content standards. These are so important as they drive our instruction and assessment. The model curriculum is not only a good place to look for a basis for goals they also contain many valuable resources such as; instructional strategies (can also be used for conditions in a goal), previous and next grade level progressions, resources/tools, and content elaborations. Don’t forget there are also social emotional standards listed on this page as well.

  • Ohio’s Learning Standards Extended

    • Ohio’s Learning Standards Extended with Learning Progressions

      • Both of these are great documents but the extended standards with the learning progressions mirror the learning standards exactly and add in very valuable information to help you build a base with students and move them forward. The learning progressions can also give you insight into the background knowledge that students will need for that standard. As you can see both documents are organized from the least to the most complex task. These can be very helpful, and serve as a bridge for moving students from the Alternate Assessment to the regular End of Course Exams for their specific grade levels.

  • New OMJ Help Guide

    • We all know that the OMJ site has changed dramatically. We were able to make a really quick cheat sheet for you to use to get to the main sections that we covered throughout our OMJ sessions.

  • Youth Mental Health First Aid

    • Mental health has always been a priority in our schools. Now after this pandemic we know our students will need some mental health first aid. Please see this flyer for more information as well as registration information for a mental health session being hosted by SST 5.
