Transition Tidbits January 30, 2023

This week we have a couple of resources to share. Make sure to check out the Career Tech document, even if you are not associated with a Career tech. There are some great resources that can apply to all situations. Also, take a minute to check out the opportunity from Charting the LIfecourse about a professional learning session in which they will demonstrate how the Charting the Lifecourse Tools can be used in IEP development

Indicator 13 Checklist

Taxonomy Connection- Student-Focused Planning- IEP Development

  • The all-important indicator 13 checklists, which are used to check transition plans for compliance, has been updated. No new content was added, the forms were just updated to be more visually appealing. The updates make the checklists much easier to follow and use. Below are Form A and Form B. Both forms have the same material, the only difference is the presentation of the questions. Teams can use either form to check their transition plans for compliance

Recruiting Special Populations into Career Technical Education

Taxonomy Connection- Program Structures- CTE Enrollment and Completion

  • This toolkit was developed in collaboration with the American Institute for Research (AIR) to assist districts in achieving a more diverse career-technical landscape and to demonstrate how to embed support for students in the recruiting process. The toolkit uses three strategies for recruitment planning: Using Data to Identify Special Population Groups; Leveraging Partnerships for Inclusion; and Removing Barriers to Access. Two tools are provided at the end of the toolkit: Tool #1: Recruitment Strategies, Resources, and Potential Partners and Tool #2: The Action Planning Template.

Charting the LIfecourse for an IEP

  • More from Charting the Lifecourse. In the last couple of weeks, Charting the Lifecourse has been looking for ambassadors to bring charting the life course to local districts. Even if you are not looking to be an ambassador, these sessions are great as they will let show educators how they can use the Charting the Lifecourse tool to inform IEPs. Hopefully, many of you can attend this professional learning session from Charting the Lifecourse
