ConnectEd Day at Work Videos

Taxonomy Connection- Student Development- Employment and Occupational Skills- Career Awareness Opportunities Provided

  • Many students do not know the variety of jobs that are available. This website is an excellent resource for many jobs including those that may not be ones we think about every day. Videos are separated into sectors to make for easy sorting. Not only do you get access to the videos, but most videos also have an informational section attached to them. This section includes topics such as; career path, salary, best cities for the job, and so much more. The videos help students see the job in action and the information helps to compare the job to a student's PINS.

Roadtrip Nation

  • We shared this youtube channel last year but they continue to build their content so it is definitely worth the reshare. This channel has many videos separated into categories. Some of the categories include; career life advice, 5 jobs for…, jobs explained, and much more. These videos are very engaging and great ways to expose our students to different careers. The videos also help students understand the demands of the jobs. Students can reflect after the videos to see if their PINS matches the job showcased in the videos.

  • OK, last one… for this week. Another great career exploration video website. This site’s home page offers 3 ways to search videos; by keyword, industry, or what a student likes to do. After finding a career, students can watch a video to learn more about their career choice. Students also can explore the knowledge, skills, abilities, personality, and technology skills needed for each job. There is also a job outlook and education needed section for each career. Another great resource to compare the facts of a career with a student’s PINS which allows them to reflect on their choice.
