Transition Tidbits May 16, 2022

Hi Everyone

Just a couple more universal resources to share this week. Again this week both of these documents are kind of lengthy, hopefully, you can carve out some time to review them and think about how they can be used as you begin to plan for the next school year. With that said, it is hard to believe but next week will be our last Transition Tidbits for the 21-22 school year.

A Guide to Developing Collaborative School-Community-Business Partnerships

  • We all know how important partnerships are in everything we do in education but they are essential to ensure students are leaving school prepared for their post-secondary outcomes. This guide gives directions and resources to help schools build partnerships with 2 very important groups; communities and businesses. As with most documents from NTACT, resources are linked directly in the document. As you review this document do not get overwhelmed with all the information but think is there one thing I can do next school year.

Student Profile Resource Document

  • Anytime we create an IEP for a student we want it to be person-centered. Person-centered is also one of the most critical elements of a transition plan as well. This document is another tool to help you develop a strong student profile to help you build a person-centered IEP and Transition Plan. This document can be used by teachers to collect this profile data but this can also be a great outline for a student-led IEP to build those self-determination and self-advocacy skills.
