Transition Tidbits February 22, 2022

Hi everyone

This week we only have one resource to share around the Student Development section of the Taxonomy. We did not want to share too many resources because we have three great upcoming events listed at the bottom. We wanted to make sure you had time to explore each event and hope you can take some time on your busy calendar to attend them.

Self Direction Toolkit

  • This is a great resource shared by our PBIS team at their PBIS Coaches session last week. Self Direction is so beneficial to students both with and without disabilities. Self-determination, which is sometimes referred to as self-direction, is one of the predictors of post school success and that is why we felt this toolkit was so beneficial to share. This toolkit addresses 5 dimensions of self-direction such as self-awareness, goal setting and planning, and more. Each dimension is broken down by grade bands. For example K-2, 3-5, and so forth. For each grade band, there is a rubric around each of the 5 dimensions that measure students’ “I can” statements. The toolkit also has tools that not only help students develop self-direction but can be great sources of AATA. Teachers also have step-by-step directions of how to implement the tools and checkpoints that can be used to measure progress.

Join us for a special presentation from Ohio State's Family Engagement Center focusing on Middle School Career Exploration.
