Virtual--Emergent Literacy Series, Birth to Age 5 Mahoning County Session Three

Information: The Office of Approaches to Teaching and Professional Learning, collaborating with the Office of Early Learning and School Readiness, will host a three-part Birth–Age 5 Emergent Literacy Series in fall 2019. The series consists of:
• Part 1 - Introduction to Emergent Literacy & Teaching Early Phonological Awareness;
• Part 2 - Developing Oral Language and Vocabulary for Emergent Literacy; and
• Part 3 - Building Print Awareness Through Interactive Read-Alouds.
Find more information about each part on the OCCRA website and in STARS. Participants will be expected to attend all three sessions to receive credit through OCCRA’s Ohio Professional Registry. They will earn additional hours by taking part in “connect to the classroom” activities that apply the concepts learned in the sessions to classroom practice. Again, to earn credit, participants must complete all three sessions and take part in the “Connect to the Classroom” work.
Target Audience: Preschool teachers, paraprofessionals, supervisors, childcare workers, kindergarten.
