State Support Team 5 News Article

Transition Tidbits September 26, 2022

Hi Everyone

This week we are going to share a few more resources aligned to the program structure category of the Taxonomy. Our first vidbit, resources, and reflection form from last week all align with the Program Evaluation subcategory of the program structure. Two of the specific objectives from that subcategory are below.

  • Evaluation is part of an ongoing cycle of program development and improvement

  • Clear vision is established for system-wide evaluation and data use

We shared the resources below one more time because as you can see they align so well to this section of the Taxonomy but also are critical steps to take in the continuous improvement cycle that will have a lasting impact on your program and students.

Everyone Graduates Center

Taxonomy Connection- Program Characteristics- Parents are given graduation requirements and exit options

  • The center is full of resources that help districts establish programs to improve the graduation rate of their students both with and without disabilities. There are also resources that help districts improve family engagement around graduation. Below is one of those resources which is the Center’s podcast. This podcast has multiple episodes that discuss ways to empower parents to be partners in the graduation process.

PBIS High School Implementation

Taxonomy Connection- Program Structure- School Climate- School has a clearly defined set of expectations

  • We all know how important PBIS is. Many times we see the strong implementation of the PBIS Framework in elementary and middle schools but see this implementation fall off in high school. There is a belief that the PBIS Framework is for younger students as opposed to our more mature students. This brief discusses how the PBIS Framework can be used to help make our student's college and career ready. As we all know, soft skills are in high demand right now. We will share more resources around this topic as the year progresses.
