Good Super Bowl Morning Everyone
Hope you were able to get a little sleep after the game last night. This week we have a few good resources to pass along. Please take a minute to check out two upcoming events. The first flyer is about a forthcoming FAFSA event and the second is an OCALI Spotlight on how County Boards of DD can use technology in the classroom.
Education Planner
Taxonomy Connection- Student Development- Life, social, and emotional skills- Self-Determination Skills Development
Very cool resource for families, students, and counselors. For parents, there is information about what the ACT / SAT scores mean. There is a scholarship search, tips for their child and money management, and so much more. Counselors can make use of career cluster activities, prepare for school checklists, and even use this site as a computer lab activity. For students, again there are many checklists for them to explore. There are also self-reflections such as; what is your learning style, what study habits you need to improve, and much more. So many of the student activities can be transition AATA, activities, or both.
Career Clusters Pathways
Taxonomy Connection- Student Development- Employment and Occupational Skills- Career planning is embedded
Ohio Means Jobs has had its ups and downs since the redesign but this website is really great. Sometimes our AATA does a great job of identifying a career pathway for a student but our student may not know specific jobs to explore. This website breaks down each career pathway into entry-level, intermediate, advanced, or expert jobs. Students can also click on the jobs and learn more about those specific ones. This is a great career exploration transition activity. Think about how you can pair it with a writing assignment to create a transition activity that can be used as an AATA for the next IEP.
