Transition Tidbits May 15, 2023

Hi Everyone

First of all Happy Mother’s Day to all moms and special women. No video introduction this week because we had a small technology issue so you will have to put up with a brief old-school typed introduction. Three good resources are below. The first is from ODE and gives many different strategies that can help keep students engaged. The second resource is another good one from Successbound. So many districts are exploring adding pathways for their students and this resource will help in that process. The final resource is a good article about supporting goal setting in students. Even though it is the end of the year now is the perfect time to use these resources to begin planning for next year. Hard to believe it but next week will the last tidbit of the 22-23 school year. We are looking forward to continued collaboration in the 23-24 school year.

Keeping Students Engaged

  • Here is a great resource from ODE. This website was released in the fall as a resource to help keep students engaged. As we wrap up this school year this resource is still very beneficial as we make plans to ensure our students are engaged next school year. This website is full of great resources and they are organized in a step-by-step manner. How will you use this resource in the last couple weeks of this school year to prepare for next year?

Successbound Design and Develop Pathways

  • Another resource from Successbound. As we worked with districts on improvement plans for indicators 1 and 2, many of those districts had action steps around developing additional pathways for their students. Successbound has compiled several links that can help districts work through all the steps of adding new pathways for their students. It is a great time of year to add these pathways to ensure they are up and running for the start of the school year.

Edutopia Article- Supporting Goal Setting in Students

  • Here is a really cool article from Edutopia. We are always talking about building self-determination skills in our students. One way to build these skills is to have students set their own goals. This article talks about how teachers can make this activity simple for their students. Again, as we move into the new school year, what can you take from this article to help you plan for the 23-24 school year?
