Transition Tidbits December 6, 2021

Hi Everyone

Hope the first week back after Thanksgiving went well for everyone. This week we have three more resources aligned to the program structure section of the Taxonomy for Transition Programming. Below we have two resources for our Regional Transition Network. The first is the agenda and the second is a very short article about how our employment gap started long before Covid. It is an easy read but also makes you think about what we can do differently in school to prepare our students to be employed. If you can find a couple minutes to read before the Regional Transition Network tomorrow that would be great, so we can briefly discuss it at the beginning of our network.

Hope to see you all tomorrow from 9-11.

Article to read- The Great Resignation

CCC Framework

  • Very cool resource to help in teaching those skills that are needed to get and keep a job. This resource aligns well with the article mentioned above “The Great Resignation” and reinforces the skills all students need to leave school with. The resources are organized into 3 categories; interpersonal, intrapersonal, and cognitive. If you hover over a word you will get options for a research guide, a poster, and a padlet of resources for each skill. The resource guide contains research, assessments, instructional strategies, and more for each skill.

Tfolio

  • Another great tool to structure your program around. Tfolio is a free transition portfolio for high school students with disabilities. Tfolio has 5 units with lessons covering everything from job exploration to self determination. Lessons contain a lesson guide, a worksheet, and a presentation. The units can be used in sequence or as needed to meet specific needs. Definitely a great resource to use to help structure your program.

School Completion Toolkit

  • An oldie but a goodie. This resource has been shared multiple times but is definitely worth the reshare. It covers everything needed for school completion. Some examples include the core components of school completion, the predictors and practices that improve the chances for school completion, early warning signs, school climate and much more. There is even a section dedicated to family engagement. Another great component is that any item or resource that is discussed is also linked for easy reference.

Charting the LIfe Course Family Series

Great family engagement opportunity in this 3 part series. Families can learn how they can use the Charting the Life Course Tools to advocate across the lifespan. Feel free to share with any families you think may benefit.
